The First Great Lunar War (also known as the Cookie War, Lunar War 1) was the first prolonged global war on Luna, with twenty-two alliances at war.
[edit] Pre war
Lunar Axis of War and Lulz (LAWL) forms, its membership being composed of the members of ELS, The Echelon, LUEnar Colonies,GOONS,ZERG. At the time the war started, however, ELS and The Echelon wer not members of the bloc, ELS having disbanded and The Echelon having merged with The North Star Coalition and forming The Agatean Empire. Shortly before the war, four new alliances (these being The Agatean Empire, LMC, DAWN and A.S.S.) had been admitted into LAWL.
Before the war, tensions among the LAWL bloc of alliances began to build after the formation (and subsequent rapid expansion) of The Overwhelmingly Straightforward Nondiscriminatory Alliance Pact (OSNAP). OSNAP stated that their reason for formation was (and is) to protect The Moon from falling under the ultimate control of LAWL--namely, ZERG. Shortly after their formation, the OSNAP bloc began to notice a military build-up amongst several LAWL member alliances; this began approximately one week before the war itself began. Allegedly, OSNAP then ordered their colonies to initiate a similar buildup in response to LAWL's sudden and drastic increase in Military Strength. The buildup was, therefore, a response to a perceived threat from LAWL. It is believed OSNAP's buildup was in preparation for an eventual preemptive strike.
OSNAP soon declared war on LAWL, on the grounds that ZERG was "having the most kick-ass cookies," and that the LAWL military buildup was an indicator of an imminent attack on OSNAP. It is debatable, then, who the ultimate aggressor in the war was; however, OSNAP technically initiated formal hostilities.

After closely watching LAWL began unnecessary military build up OSNAP order all colonies to arm them selfs. OSNAP also believed that a Great lunar war was inevitable at some point, so they launched a preemptive assault. Whether they were correct or not, the moon may never know.

LunarFARK and Grey Protection Agency first declared war on ZERG, who immediately returned the declaration. Snowdust Republic and Paradoxia then declared war on the LUEnar Colonies and GOONS then declared war on SWORD. The Legion then activated its MDP with SWORD and declared war on GOONS. The newly-formed Agatean Empire, formed by the merge between NSC and the Echelon, declared on Paradoxia in response. This resulted in Celestial Entente, and other alliances such as NCAAbbs to declare war on LAWL.

Due to the unfortunate state of war between our two alliances, many will face unprecedented economic devastation in the upcoming days. You can, however, avoid any further destruction to your nation by removing yourself from the conflict by following these simple directions.
1. You must change your AA to 'New Polar Order'
2. You must send all of your GA and OF's to any LAWL nation you are currently fighting
3. Your colony must stay in peace mode and have your AA set to 'New Polar Order' for the duration of the war
4. You will have to pay 120% of the damage and grief you have caused to any nations of LAWL
5. Failure to comply to any of these will result in a renewed state of war with LAWL
I am trying to remain honorable and I know how much this war is going to suck for people. If you decide to comply, I will be watching to make sure you do not break any part of the agreement, but I hold you no ill will. Seriously, I hope you comply. It's really not worth taking such a beating.

The war saw great deal of propaganda, OSNAP used theirs to boost moral in their ranks while LAWL engaged in a flame war over the forums with OSNAP on who can produce the best propaganda with the most laughs. This is what kept everyone in OSNAP going. A lot of LAWL members were banned from the LunarWars Forums for repated flaming.

After a bloody two week war and ten of thousands of Casualties and many Colonies in Zero Housing LAWL members began throwing in the towel.
ZERG surrender Terms
1. I share the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I know (see below: I hear cats love it, if you serve it with fresh milk)
2. I change my signature pic for the next 48 hours to one with a very fluffy kitten on it (the Zion Cat and Cookie Research Group ... yum)
3. ZergCatCookie followers aid all orbital fighters and ground assaults owned at the declaration of peace to Fark, GrPA, Legion, and other OSNAP alliances, as directed.
4. Destroy or aid to Fark, GrPA, Legion, and other OSNAP alliances as directed, all missiles and ground troops.
5. Post one original Cat Pic (zomg, look below ... sorry it's the best I can do without buying a real cat tongue.gif)
6. ZergCatCookie followers shall pay 40% reps in all wars they were involved in against Legion, and 20% reps in all other wars. Payment will take place 48 hours after this agreement is posted. If an inactive colony does not pay, FARK will PM the colony before attacking, and ZERG and FARK will work together to inform members of these terms and track those who are not complying.
7. The Zion Cat and Cookie Research Group will leave LAWL.
8. Our friends in Legion have agreed to a Protectorate Treaty with us as part of this peace agreement. ZERG is now a Legion protectorate.

I'll keep this short as I need to draft an acceptance of defeat. Today I come before all of you to announce that LUE and OSNAP have come to an agreement regarding LUE's surrender to OSNAP. The terms are listed below:

1. 40% reps to those in PaX/SR members who lost over 500 housing
1b. 20% reps to those who lost less than 500 housing
2. 20% reps to OSNAP members
3. Fark offer 0% reps as an offer of good will
4. OSNAP members must PM their LUE colony opponents to inform them if they are owed reps
5. 10k OF limit for 60 days accross LUE
6. LUE may not join a bloc for 60 days
7. LUE can keep its current government
8. LUE must issue a proper acceptance of defeat that they designed themselves
Both sides please keep in mind that sending out messages to members is slow going, so lets not argue about attacking each other after hostilities have ceased. These things happen, and I hope that we can be civil about this. An official surrender will come shortly.

Officially, as of July, 26 2007 at 0:00, Lunar Wars time, the Agatean Empire formally accepts the Agatean Instrument of Surrender and ceases all hostilities against Paradoxia and the Celestial Entente.
As an alliance, we are proud to have stood by our allies in their time of need. We gave the war all we had, and we did what we had to. I am proud of each Agatean that fought with me and held their ground, and even in the face of defeat, I am still proud to be an Agatean.
To our opponents: Paradoxia and the Celestial Entente; it was an honourable battle between us and our respect for you has never been greater. You have conducted yourselves well on the field of battle, and I can truly say that both of you are worthy opponents of any alliance. Some alliances now share a new friendship with their once enemies, once such example is Paradoxia and AgE.
Many angry LAWL colony's Form Guerrilla alliances to continues the war with OSNAP. Other colonies simple left there alliance to either go Rogue and continues to fight OSNAP or do not wish to honer the surrender terms.

During our war the roaches declared on us (fooraches or something) and attacked our colonies and what not.
Now that the rest of the war is concluding SR will be conducting a limited enagement to both assist our DI friends and to pound the un-smart roaches who thought they could do us harm while we attacked LUE.
While no official DoW was ever cast on SR (or OSNAP) that I can tell, we consider ourselves still at war with the roaches until such time peace is had. So this is not a DoW but recognition of continued conflict between our alliances.

Unfortunately, SWORD's Council has rejected the terms as posted here on these forums. Therefore, SWORD reaffirms it's original state of war with the CDS.

Many would compare the chances of this document originally gracing the pages of the alliance forum to those kinds of circumstances, but they shouldn't. GOONS and Fark have always had a stable relationship on the moon, first as respected opponents and now as esteemed allies that share a desire for further diplomatic progress.
With these goals and common bonds in their infancy, it only stands to reason that it be solidified within the confines of some formal arrangement. A statutory symbol of how far we have come from where we started, and hopefully that together with the society of lunar alliances we move forward towards a brighter future.
That being said, the alliances of Lunar FARK and GOON Order of Oppression, Negligence, and Sadism (GOONS) have signed and agreed to this Optional Defense Pact for mutual cooperation, and optional defense. Both alliances hold within themselves the common goals to strive for unity, liberty, equality, integrity, peace, and democracy. This pact is made to ensure mutual cooperation, friendship, and a demonstration of that to the whole of Luna.
/ Mutual Information
All forms of espionage, terrorism or covert and malicious information collection between FARK and GOONS are hereby deemed illegal. Under no circumstances may either alliance, affiliation, or protectorate initiate such a malicious act towards the other alliance. This affects all previous, present or future espionage activity.
In addition, both alliances pledge to share information of importance which affects the other.
// Non-Aggression
Neither alliance may attack, sanction, and hire others to attack, or manipulate the other or conspire to do so. Neither alliance nor any of its members may engage in conflict or manipulate others to attack the other signatory alliance or one of its members.
If one colony mistakenly or unknowingly attacks another of the other alliance, they will make maximum allowable reparations to the offended colony. If they refuse to do this, they will be expelled from their alliance.

These alliances are bound to each other in times of war and peace. In war, a request for aid against the enemies may be requested. Each alliance may opt to assist the other in any war. Enemies of one alliance are the enemies of both by friendship. Aid may be in the form of both economic (if and when possible) and military.

Should either of the signatory alliances feel it necessary to sanction a colony or alliance economically, then the other signatory alliance may opt to follow suit and support its ally in this act.

Diplomats, as well as all normal members, will be highly encouraged to join and post in the other alliance's forums. They are to be treated with courtesy by the host alliance. Should the need arise; diplomats may call a meeting for revisions of the ODP.

QUOTE Ev'ry once in a bit, y'all get some folks in yer alliance that like mouthin' off, or sayin' stuff to other alliance folks they ain't supposed to say. Instead o' cleanin' up their mess, they say 'mah alliance will protect me'. Kinda like one o' them annoyin' lil' kids that get chased fer mouthin' off, then go run 'n hide behind Momma's skirts. It gets yer alliance in some hot water, 'n causes the gubmint types some hassle to fix.
If all this sorta thing happens, the offended colony got the right to go the alliance o' the 'annoyin' kid' colony to 'Blow Off Steam'. If the gubmint agrees the other alliance got good reasons fer bein' pissed, the other alliance got the right to start a one-off war with the 'annoyin' kid' colony, n' bring a buddy if they all want. The 'annoyin' kid's alliance ain't gonna hep out in the war. After the war ends, both sides agree that the situation is over.
Ahm thinkin' that the 'annoyin' kid' colony will watch their mouth after bein' taken out behind the woodshed 'n whupped awhile, or even better, will go join some other alliance. The folks who done got offended will feel a mite better after Blowin' Off some Steam.

Translation:
If a member colony acts in such a way to annoy or harass another colony in the other alliance, the harassed colony may request a Blowing Off Steam battle from the harasser’s alliance. If the harasser’s government agrees the harassed colony has good reasons for being angered, the alliances will agree to a war between the two colonies. The harasser’s alliance may not send aid, either in terms of adding additional defenders, or sending aid, whereas the colony harassed may bring one (1) assistant colony to help in the war. Though it is encouraged, depending on strength level, to duke it out themselves.
The war must be a 2 day skirmish, and no reparations will be given. Once complete, both sides will agree that the situation is over.
//////// Dissolving the pact
Should either alliance wish to leave the ODP; the alliance must give a seven-day (168 hour) warning to the other. If the choice to leave the ODP has not been changed in the seven-day (168 hour) warning time, the ODP will be dissolved.

1. Diplomatic rebuilding
A. Provisional Non Aggression Pact
1. Lunarfark will forgive and forget all transgressions that have happened in the previous war no matter how large or small they may have been against our alliance and encourage the same for your alliance.
2. Lunarfark will provide a promise of non aggression for a period of one month with many hugs and cat pics to be encouraged between our two alliances.
3. Embassies will be strongly encouraged between our two alliances for future communication. If already existing, embassies shall be used much more to provide better communication between our two governments.
4. Lunarfark will move to negotiate stronger pacts after said month provisional non aggression is met if both parties are all cool with everything. If not, no biggie, at least no grudges are held.
5. Lunarfark and said alliance will continually shoot for an atmosphere of "diplomacy first" with all future aggressions, threats, naughty messages, and/or graffiti left on bathroom stalls.
B. Diplomatic aid
Suggestions on future diplomacy for the alliance if requested. Ideas on future diplomatic plans, help with contacts, basic diplomacy set up and an embassy on our forums (if not already existing).
2. Domestic rebuilding

B. Governmental Aid Suggestions on governmental set up and and basic flow depending on the existing governmental set up. Again, all aid is on an individual request basis and not mandatory whatsoever.
3. Military rebuilding
A. Military structure Ideas for a military structure and defense system. Basic communication, hierarchy platforms, and chain of command. No specific LunarFark intelligence will be granted, but aid and suggestions will be offered upon request
B. Military Aid Immediate Military aid can be offered upon request to restore basic minimums to said alliance colonies. Other basic tips and tricks learned by LunarFark may also be available on a case by case basis.

I have been given the unfortunate responsibility to announce the dissolution of the Lunar Axis of War and Lulz (LAWL). Each signatory of the treaty of the LAWL agrees to the total disbandment of the bloc. We have learned to respect one another in a way we have yet to see duplicated on this moon, and we can only hope that this respect will move all of us forward down whatever paths we choose to take.
